Kita Asbill

Kita has a heart as big as the world. Her smile lights up the room, and her "can do" attitude is a gift that few possess. Her work finds her in a different school each day as she skillfully uses her influence and knowledge to positively impact countless educators and students. She is truly a gift to Great Expectations!

Kita is a native of Oklahoma. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 1992. She spent seven years as a high school English teacher before joining Great Expectations as a full-time coach teacher. During her public school teaching career, she attained certification as a Great Expectations Summer Institute instructor and taught methodology during the summer months for many years. Her experiences in implementing Great Expectations in a high school classroom make her an expert in the methodology at the secondary level.

As a public school educator, Kita received many prestigious honors. Among them is a nomination for the 1999-2000 Disney's American Teacher Award, 1995 Teacher of the Year for Locust Grove Public Schools, and Who's Who Among America's High School Teachers for six years consecutive years.

Kita loves her family and enjoys spending time with her husband, Paul, her three sons and daughters-in-law, and her precious granddaughters and grandsons. Her personal interests include swimming, reading, and watching movies.

Kita's commitment to education and her desire to "make a difference" are seen daily by her tireless work as a coach and an ambassador for the Great Expectations program.
