  1. Model the use of rich vocabulary and word identification skills throughout the educational environment. i.e. curriculum content, Great Expectations methodology etc.

    Implementation Online Resources:

  2. Provide balanced skill and interest-based instruction that motivates learners to identify unknown vocabulary by applying word recognition/reading skills including:
         - phonics for pronunciation,
         - sequential reading skills that support text analysis to construct meaning
         - use of dictionaries and online resources
         - word analysis(pronunciations, parts of speech, variations, definitions,
         - synonyms, antonyms, etymologies -Greek and Latin roots, stems and  origins)
          - a lexicon (process for word mastery) and an easily accessible method of                    storage
          - use of newly acquired words in their daily speaking and writing.

  3. Create a lexicon format to guide learners in seeking, analyzing, and learning new vocabulary. Display enriched, challenging vocabulary connecting to goals and diverse areas of learning for availability in discussion and writing.

“ Word Analysis in Action”

Brainstorm words that describe how Word Analysis looks and sounds. In pairs create a list of words that describe word analysis.

Join another pair, share lists, and add any new words. Join another group of 4 and repeat. The end result will be a list to be posted in the room for use and reflection.
