GE Impacts Student Learning

National Board Certification is absolutely the most rigorous professional development I have ever gone through. The process mandates a deep level of reflectiveness and analyzing of lesson design. At the heart of everything throughout the process is the question, “How does this impact student learning?”

As I attended Great Expectations for the second time in my career, I realized everything about Great Expectations truly IMPACTS student learning. The respectful teacher/student relationship that GE advocates is at the crux of all learning. The embedding of the life principles and eight expectations for living insures the atmosphere in my classroom is brain friendly. Using quotes for the daily dialogue with my students improves their vocabulary, offers a mini history lesson, and can help refocus their thinking in a manner that supports learning.

The HEART of Great Expectations is completely focused on impacting student learning. It is powerful, transformative, and honors all learners.
